The Mint is a bed-in-a-box mattress which means it’s going to make use of foams. After all, it’s really hard to vacuum-seal springs. The Mint features three layers which are designed to work in harmony to provide the best possible sleep. Here’s what they are and why they work:
- Adaptive Foam: The topmost layer is a dynamic design that balances pressure relief and overall comfort.
- High-Quality Ceramic Gel: The second layer’s ceramic gel boasts a 5x increase in total cooling ability.
- Open-Cell Base Layer: The base layer features sturdy foundational support that also helps facilitate airflow.

I love this mattress! I’d slept on the original Tuft and Needle mattress before and really liked it. My girlfriend and I decided that we were going to bite the bullet and get a mattress that made us excited about sleep. Our old mattress was horrible. It was some cheapo we bought from a Costco that was like sleeping on a sheet of plywood!
We’ve been sleeping on the Mint mattress for 2 weeks now and have loved every night! There was a kind of funky smell the first day or two but I was told that is normal? Anyway, it went away quickly and I can’t smell it at all anymore. As far as setting the mattress up goes, things were pretty easy. The box isn’t too big to manage but it’s still pretty heavy. I could probably have gotten it set up myself but am glad I had help.
Overall, I’d give this mattress 5/5 stars. It’s not the best mattress in the world by any means but for the price, it’s hard to beat. I’m a sucker for memory foam ( I even have a memory foam pillow! ) so this mattress really was what I was hoping for!

Tuft & Needle are renowned among mattress brands to make a quality product. We were excited when we heard they were unveiling a new-evolution of their incredible Original mattress. The Mint seems to live up to the hype and we’re convinced that it will make a great choice for anyone looking for a new memory foam mattress around the $1000 mark.
We talk a lot about mattresses and if we have learned one thing it’s this: everyone has their own preferences when it comes to sleeping. Just because 9 people love a mattress doesn’t mean the 10th person will. The Mint seems like a good choice from all the positive remarks in reviews but that’s not why it ultimately gets our seal of approval.
We believe the Mint is worth trying because if you aren’t happy you can return it for a complete refund within 100 days of purchase. Free shipping, 10-Year warranty—Tuft & Needle let you buy with confidence.
Buying a mattress can be confusing. Options, features, pricing, and warranties get tossed around in marketing lingo and don’t always stop to explain. Below you’ll find some of the most common questions related to the Mint mattress. If you find you have any other questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us and we’ll do our best to help figure things out!
How does the Mint handle airflow?
Memory foam mattresses have more issues allowing the free flow of air than spring or microcoil mattresses. Early memory foam designs had consumer interest quickly fade due to heat retention issues. The Mint mattress makes use of graphite, heat-wicking cover materials, and Open Cell technology to ensure optimal airflow throughout the night.
Does Tuft & Needle offer financing for the Mint?
Mattresses, even when bought online, are still expensive. Tuft & Needle offers financing available through Affirm to help ensure the Mint can be a comfortable buy for everyone.
Are the Mint’s materials natural or synthetic?
The Mint features several layers, of which some contain more than one material. The polyfoam materials are CertiPUR-US certified and the entire product is GreendGuard Gold certified—more of a manufacturing concern than anything else. All things considered, this is a pretty non-natural mattress and does not make use of any certified organic materials.
Will the edges maintain their shape when sitting on them?
There’s a limit to how well any mattress’ edges will retain shape given enough pressure. The Mint features a reinforced edge design by Tuft & Needle that has been developed to offer more support than many mattresses but is still likely to sag if you put too much pressure on it. In other words; expect it to stop you from rolling off the bed at night but to also indent if you sit or stand on or near the edge.
Is the Mint mattress a good choice for kids?
The Mint has received a seal of approval from Parent-Tested Parent-Approved indicating that it is an excellent choice for a child or teenager to sleep on. The PTPA is well-respected to help consumers assess the safety and appropriateness of many types of products for children and teens.
